About The Artwork

series "fructus": 11. "Avocado", oil on canvas, 50х55х3.5 cm. The painting was written in October 2020. In the continuation of the series fructus. The idea of a series of paintings came to me unexpectedly, in marth this year. ... how fast and popular this fruit is among artists, it was so much more difficult for me to portray it (and I still doubt the choice of this fruit!). ... although I must admit, I did not keep in my task to depict the avocado fruit in its exact reality (identity, similarity), but just tried to understand in the very process of depicting what it is. ... Avocado perfectly and accurately illustrates to us the very form of the origin of life on Earth, its universe. Like a chicken egg, the avocado also shows us the fundamental substances (substances) of the beginning of life, the birth of a new one. Enjoy your viewing!

"I love the dreamy yet realistic aspect you bring out in your work. It’s like a modern day Van Gogh. Keep working at it! Your art is beautiful I would love to see it in a museum one day!" - perhaps it is with this quote that I will characterize my oeuvre as a whole, which a subscriber from Atlanta Georgia (USA) once wrote to me on Instagram, expressing a personal opinion about my art. I am a self-taught artist. I am 39 years old (born in 1981), Now I live, work in St. Petersburg (Russia). I took my very first steps in painting at the age of 9-10, when I lived in an orphanage. For the first time I took oil when I was 21 years old. I try to constantly connect the unconnected - two worlds for me, real, the one that surrounds me in everyday life and the world of my fantasies, dreams, desires. This requires a constant search in the expressive aspect. Perhaps that is why I deliberately do not dwell on a certain handwriting, genre, style, technique, which is very very often inherent in artists. If you may call it, then my painting is purely individual. * (My email: nikolashapovalo@yandex.ru, as well as links to my social networks under the profile photo).
