Gaia 2 is the second in a series of works I am creating to honor our planet during this time of human introspection and global pandemic. I created this work using ink and metallic pigments on a translucent acrylic panel. I offer Gaia 2 as an opportunity for viewers to be present as they look at the ebb and flow of color and metallic pigments that seem to float above their platform. Ambient light filters through from behind, while surface light ignites the gold traces throughout this work. There are subtle details that capture and carry one in around and through. When Gaia 2 is installed, the movement of the sun shifts which section is highlighted. I hope that there can be a sense of serenity given to the collector whenever they look at Gaia 2. This work can be installed horizontally or vertically. For my ink works, I pour pools of ink and, for lack of a better explanation, dance with my panel as the colors blend and shift across the surface. I then overlay this panel with a clear acrylic panel to protect it. I chose to work with ink on translucent panels because I wanted to find another dimension of luminosity that I have created in my ink works on paper. The translucent panel adds depth and light that I do not have access to when working on opaque surfaces. I have created my own hanging system by adapting the traditional stand-off system: I secure the panels together at each corner with aluminum caps and bolts, with these bolts serving as part of my hanging system. On the back, I wrap airplane cable around the bolts, creating an x around which I add a small loop of the same cable. This loop secures easily to a traditional picture hanger on the wall. It is the tension created by this hanging system that bends the panels convexly this accentuates the simmer of the gold on the surface and allows ambient light to enter behind the work, giving the translucent panel a secondary depth and luminosity. Gaia 2 is 36 x 24 inches and can be installed vertically or horizontally, because of my hanging system. I have also added rubber bumpers on each cap on the back to facilitate light entering from behind. I then have wrapped white toile around the back caps to shroud the hanging mechanism. CARE· Place in moderate temperatures and indirect sunlight.· Wipe surface clean with a microfiber cloth as needed. This work is one of a kind and will be delivered to you ready for installation with a Certificate of Authenticity documenting all salient details for your records.

I am driven to create work by distilling nature into abstract form that beckons me into the sublime, that place where emotion holds dominance over vocabulary. As a contemporary artist, I am inspired by the balance between precision and freedom. I create meditative spaces that invite curiosity. My work is influenced by my extensive travels, love of nature, and living along the coast of Rhode Island. My abstract and representational paintings, installations, sculptures, and large-scale photographic works are characterized by organic forms and the use of nontraditional materials. My most recent paintings, "Stasis & Metamorphosis Collections," are poetic. Their graceful sculptural and curvilinear forms in sophisticated color palettes seem to float in the atmosphere.
