Ghosts Print

This expressionist oil on canvas was inspired by a failed love affair. The protagonist of the painting in his bed, his own kingdom of loneliness, is still imagining his lover right behind him, in a tight embrace, a hug where they mingle and become one, in a transparent cage with them inside and the rest of the world outside. However, the shadow (which seems almost solid to represent a concrete loneliness) on the wall tells us that on the bed there is only one of them, while the other is only a projection. The eyes on the background are his lover's eyes going away from him: he's no more interested in that love affair and now he has his eyes turned somewhere else. He's like a ghost.
