A giant heart of stone, set atop a rocky island, stands out off the shore of some sea or ocean with a turbulent sky and crashing waves all around. This painting is based off of another one that I created back in the mid-90s called, "Heart of Stone". That painting featured a combination of airbrush and acrylic and had mannequin-like people being drawn towards a giant heart of stone out in what seemed like a desert type setting. I always loved the concept but was not very fond of the execution so I decided to re-visit the idea, this time setting the giant heart out on its own, surrounded by waves and water. This is the second time that I have explored a brownish-yellowish sky and it adds a sense of drama to the overall painting. I wanted the stone itself to appear worn, yet smooth while maintaining a real stone-like look. Everyone has heard of someone who may have a heart of stone and perhaps even encountered such a person in their life. This literal interpretation of the expression is a startling image and one that I enjoyed creating!

I am a modern day, self-taught surrealist. I paint ideas. My goal is to depict the impossible or at least, the highly improbable. When people view my paintings, it's readily apparent what is going on, just not always easily understandable as to why. My paintings will make you think and hopefully, bring a smile to your face.
