" ... Horditsa's paintings lack the almost transparent, ethereal, idealized bodies that direct us to God. The traditional static depiction of characters is inferior to clear diagonal lines that bring elements of anxiety, drama and dynamics and also capture the attention of the viewer. The bodies of the characters appear more tangible, expressive, more rooted in the physical world. On the one hand, they are characterized by physicality, emotionality, a certain sublime form of ugliness, sharp underlining of anatomy and facial features, but on the other hand, abstract and shaped elements, visible in the anatomy of bodies, remind the viewer of the sphere of sacrum and at the same time make an attempt to capture the transcendent. The aspect of human nature and physicality in the divine plan of salvation becomes a real art challenge for the painter. He seems to support the concept of sacrum introduced by Mircea Eliade, who defines sacrum as “the experience of the total existence, which reveals a way of being in the world to a person”, “as well as simply reality” . The artist interprets holy power as “reality, eternity, and action in one” . His paintings are very expressive and his icons often cover the motif of suffering and the associated Passions: “The image of suffering purifies the soul of the artist and teaches meekness,” says the artist. “The catharsis that the artist is going through is also transmitted to the Christian who is praying in front of this icon ...” /Yoanna Kuchynska/
