Andrea Castro is a visual artist from Spain with a lifelong dedication to the craft. Her journey began at age 11, leading to eight years of rigorous formal training at a private art academy where she built a strong classical foundation. Later, she transitioned into Fashion Design—a field that refined her eye for texture and form, even if she quickly realized she would never befriend the sewing machine. In 2015, she returned to her true calling, committing herself to full-time painting. In her recent series of work, "Strangers", Andrea paints people she spots on the street but never pays closer attention to, asking herself the most bizarre questions about them. These inquiries lead to the peculiar stories she captures in her artwork. Expanding this narrative to the animal kingdom, Andrea recently specialized in animal portraiture under the mentorship of Jennifer Gennari. Using a classical 'alla prima' technique and a limited historical palette, she seeks to reveal the hidden, often philosophical side of our animal companions. Whether painting a stranger on the sidewalk or a soulful pet study, her work remains a search for the unique character beneath the surface. Her paintings are featured in several online and printed magazines and owned by collectors with great taste from all over the world.
