ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My abstract work focuses on composition, color, and light. I start with molding paste and acrylic paint to create texture and a bright under painting. Then finish with oils and metal leaf. I go into a bit of a trance while working on these. The final result can be exactly as originally visioned but is often far far away from my initial intentions. My inspiration for these comes from Abstract Expressionists of the 1950s.

Gregory Forber is a Colorado artist and graphic designer working primarily as an oil painter. He graduated from Colorado State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a second major in German. Studying art abroad in Europe, notably in Italy and Germany, strongly influenced the early trajectory of his work. His figurative style can be traced to European symbolists and often features biblical, mythological, and historical themes found in Italian renaissance art. More recent non objective work explores improvisation, color, composition, movement, and mixed materials, namely metal leaf. He recently completed an artist residency at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence and is building a body of figurative and abstract art in Denver.
