ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This artwork is inspired by Van Gogh. My approach is different but like his Sunflower paintings I like his impressionistic style. ( I also have a great love of Sunflowers as well as Irises.) This Iris painting has a group of Irises with different shapes and sizes. I find my graphic background as well as being a painter shows up in this painting as I use all the canvas to arrange the shapes of the flowers. Their colour is offset by the green background. I love the shapes of the Irises and the markings inside the petals. It is painted in oils and acrylics. It is painted on a deep edge canvas and is strung and ready to hang .

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
