ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work is part of a group of works on paper in which I began to play with basic geometric forms and repetition to build structures that can act as containers for colour and light, The surfaces of these works are scraped to reveal light from underlying layers. The references are to the innate geometry of the natural world, in the structure and architecture of its forms. I'm interested in the referencing the microscopic and the macroscopic, as well as the everyday world of appearances.

Michael Board is a British artist living and working in London. He is known for exploring natural forms and patterns through a multi-layered effect that draws on his formal training in traditional drawing and painting techniques. These pieces may be re-worked over a period of time. Michael was a Glassell Core Fellow at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Texas and was an awards recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts, The New York Foundation for the Arts and the Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollack Foundation while living and working in the United States. He currently lives with his family in London where he has established his current studio.
