Kingfisher Print

Mostly I paint birds, in particular Kingfishers. I got inspired to paint them after a major surgery when I didn’t recover well and I was tied to our home for a long time. I almost became isolated from society and the world. If you live abroad and become ill, you become double isolated. In the middle of my hopelessness I started to paint. First a clearwing butterfly because at that time I was vulnerable as a clearwing butterfly. But despite my physical limitations, I wanted to fly like a bird. I recovered very slow and my patience was running out. I kept thinking of the birds flying so beautiful high in the sky. For months I followed them from my chair in my garden with a deep desire to be able to fly too. When I sold my first kingfisher painting, I knew, I was blessed with a talent and suddenly I could paint. That encouraged me and gave me more and more hope to continue with painting and to learn ‘to fly’, fly strong and high, higher and higher. Stand out like a bird and be visible as this colorful Kingfisher.
