ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I work in ancient technic of painting levkas, gesso. The technic, what was pushed out by more comfortable canvas. And only icon was faithful to this technology. Sure I treat it in modern way, using the materials of our time and try to save wholeness and depth. Gesso (Levkas) always belongs to the part of sacral art. Shamanistic magic appears in the beginning of the work , even in the moment of gluing of pavoloka (the peace of cloth ) to the wooden desk. Folds, wrinkles, holes... All these spontaneous things could lead you to everywhere. It could become fundament of future images and action. You can listen to this voice or ignore it. It is possible to hooligan, if you'll pull out couple threads, unexpected fractional fine textured rhythm will arise on its own. So even on this primary stage painting starts live by its own life. And you just shouldn't interfere it. Then another magic process begins. The cooking of gesso (levkas) . Dissolving gelatin, mixing with chalk, adding linseed oil. Feeling , intuition prompts you how you could change the proportions exactly for this work, the base should be stiffer or softer. Blurs, blots, strocks, scratches and scars are the wealth of levkas. The only trigger for creating of art is emotion. True, human emotion , encoded sometimes in simple and inlogical images, hides in my work. I try to build my stories not linearly. With flying above the subjects. And everyone could read the message between the lines, based on his own association. Koan "Deja Vu" The riddle, which doesn't need any answer. One of the works from series "Deja Vu" , inspired by Summer vocation on the sea. I perceive the summer as the time, what lock the cycle. Images, persons, who appear on levkas surface aren't prepeared before. They arise almost by their will. Sometime the title what I give to work let understand how to treat it. And sometimes the title leaves just more questions... The French philosopher and intuitionist Bergson defined déjà vu like "memories about the present". And for the first time the term was used by the parapsychologist Emil Barack in the book "the Future of psychic Sciences". But this doesn't prevent Thomas Browne in 1643 to write that "Platonov year - Platos years - is a centuries old period after which all things will return to their first principle, and Plato in The Athenian school will again state this doctrine." And what about the supporters of ideas of similar cycles, but not of identical cycles, so they are innumerable. There is an opinion that possible reason of the phenomenon "deja vu" (FR. already seen) may be is changing the way encoding of time with brain. So, the deja vu condition is percepted as falling into the absolutely identity of already experiencing, and sometimes as touching to something difficult comprehensible, but to something, that definitely belongs to you. ,. What is this hole or Royal gate in time and space, that could choos us, without asking appropriate time. Or mirror, facing to universe, which reflects the time, but with some minor errors, deviations. Or all this is the somersault into the well of Marcus Aurelius, "Whoever sees the present, sees everything that has been and what will be in the infinity of times".

Levkasy Julia Skrypka Everyone knows that levkas is an iconic technique that got in hand. contemporary artists "second wind". It is impressive, diverse, improvisational, at times almost sculptural technique when it comes to metaphorical significance and the beauty of the paste itself. Levkas painting is a special color, the form depicted in the plot is an action remaining on the iconic firmament foundations, and at the same time gaining their original monumentality, indestructibility. Julia boldly declared herself as a master of gesso for a long time, and it’s nice see with what confidence her work is poured by mature skill and gain more and more impact. You can already see everything created by her, talk about the style of the artist, about the prevailing techniques and a special personality poetics of images. "Gingerbread" in the color of the work of Julia is not so childishly simple ... they constitute something important, significant, impressive with its cross-cutting, enigmatic, complex subordinates, multisignal intellectual moves, charming personality representations, hypotheses, assumptions, memories, often and difficult to read oxymorons, hoaxes ... Here there are unexpected ups and downs of the plot, more often all mysterious, talking about an immense and lively playful fantasy artist. Julia discovers an addiction to intricate narrative, the need for personal messages, sort of messages inspired by a strong sense of narrative. So constitute new forms of life, pictorial codes, language games, wandering meanings ... Within the framework of postmodern conceptual space any such message is expressed as move made in the game. There is a constant invention through plots. phraseological units, words, hybrid characters and their new meanings, their mutual attraction. This is gesso, conceived as a charade, rebus, “Guessing game” like a game. And because there are so many all sorts of whims of the game, like in the Carroll Tale of Alice. It looks like an attempt to create a new urban folklore, a certain “book” poetics of a typical modern urban girl. Here, for example, is how the human body turns pink on the plane of gesso, and in in this case, it doesn’t even matter if it’s male or female, but it’s strange in addition to see at the same time - how it is half absorbed by organic forms of plants, insects, fish, lace, fumes and details mechanisms and even ornamented fragments of architecture.
