Lalibela Rosary: Annunciation Celebration in Lalibela, Ethiopia is an impasto oil painting by Dave Alber, Travel Artist. Ethiopian Christianity is one of the oldest forms of the Christian religion; the Ethiopian language Amharic is related to Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus. During the processions of Timkat — Ethiopian Epiphany — multitudes of priests line up to sway and sing in a continuity of tradition, reminding me of pearls on a rosary extending backward through time. Dave exhibited this painting in the in the 2019 exhibition Ravages of Time & Permanence of Wonder at Suzhou Arts Collective in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.
