I am an artist currently living in Saint Louis. Years ago, I traveled in Asia and discovered ink paintings that combined traditional landscapes with modern elements. The calmness of these paintings paired with the turbulence found in Western expressionistic paintings still inspire my art. Using ink, pigments, watercolor, and acrylics, I create abstract figurative paintings that capture the uneasy balance between chaos and peace in our modern lives. I'm drawn to the unpredictability of the inks and watercolors, which can be both controlled and wild at the same time, much like the world I paint. My goal as a painter is to paint ... and to create art that is visually captivating, images that resist time, images that evoke curiosity and wonder, images of transient beauty and dissonance.
