MARCEL KAIJEN |The Netherlands Born (1958) and raised in the Netherlands. I’ve been painting since 1995 and tried all sorts of styles and techniques. I have learned to focus on various styles I’ve grown fond of and match my character. The style I mostly use for my paintings consists of large (colourful) brushstrokes, applied beam-wise, which are used to create abstracted representations of nature and landscapes. Solid barrs (poutres): hence the name “Art Des Grosses Poutres”. Or “Poutreïsme”, a nod to Pointillism. Shapes, colours and proportions are important in my work as a painter. Each “poutre” needs to be the right colour and in the right place. Abstract work while a hint of familiarity remains. May the journey of looking at my paintings be a pleasant one. Marcel Kaijen
