Displayed during Art Basel week Miami 2019 edition, Red Dot Miami. The work ¨Lorem Ipsum...¨ explores the relationship between consumerist fetishism and instant gratification culture. Associations and meanings collide, space becomes time and language becomes image. With influences as diverse as digital art and Cy Twombly, new tensions are crafted from both opaque and translucent textures. In this series, Maria is exploring the place of material culture as a catalist of a growing void in human existence and inevitability of a new beginning. Will more of the same be capable of creating new meanings that a modern person so desperately needs?
