ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is a continuation of my Lotus Lover series. Traveling around Southeast Asia as a child changed my life in many ways, but was especially important in my journey to veganism. The juxtaposition of beauty, spirituality, simplicity, intricacy, cruelty, and filth is much different than what I experienced as a sanitized and homogenous exterior of my suburban upbringing. The gorgeous Lotus flower is somewhat ubiquitous and highly symbolic in parts of Asia. They are absolutely awe inducing and delicious. For me, the lotus represents many of the wonderful experiences of my time abroad. This piece will bring you joy, luck, and serenity. What is YUPO? I take my powerful raw emotions and express them with paint to create awe. Awe allows us to stop and become present in the moment. We feel insignificant and yet totally connected to the universe. I utilize clean water practices and dispose of my paint water though evaporation, never down the drain. I believe we are one and creating unity in all aspects of my practice is deeply important to me. My art is a living meditation for your space. I lovingly welcome you to experience the wonder and awe of my creations.
