In the language of flowers, Magnolia is a symbol of dignity and perseverance, but also of nobility and superb beauty. Buddhist monks in central China have been cultivating the denuded Magnolia since the times of the T’ang dynasty (618-907A.D.) To plant it around their temples as a symbol of purity and openness. There are many legends about this flower. One, that of the "two Magnolias", tells that once there was only one Magnolia, tall, strong, which had few flowers on the outside but inside had a heart of starry Magnolia. One was the body, the other the soul and they blossomed together giving joy to the garden. On a rainy day the tree was touched by a pastel yellow Azalea that was next to it. Not realizing that the contact had been accidental, the Magnolia fell in love with the Azalea, pushing more and more, thanks to its "starry" heart, its flowers to bloom towards that plant. Over time the magnolia felt its heart break and push to go out, and so it was until it split into two shrubs, one of Magnolia and one of Starry Magnolia.
