About The Artwork

Hello, this is another one of my bird caricature series that I had started sometime ago. As with all the others, I use human traits and mannerisms, so it is about us just as much as it is about these lovely, lively creatures. I hope you like them and here is a somewhat explanation for it. It took me quite a while to complete this oil painting full of colour and shades. Even the deep sides of the canvas are incorporated in the painting, as the leaves and such are continued right up to the end, extending the image right up to the wall’s edge. Displayed are two more characters from my bird series showing quite a bit of makeup and one which is miffed or puerile. Yes, they are very much preened and naturally made up at first glance, but it is not the total picture. You’ll be able to detect a bit of tongue in cheek looking at it carefully. The one which is looking away, doesn’t really want to know about the other and certainly looks upset, probably even moving away. Or is it moving up, making some room, I wonder? Well, who knows what it is about, this behaviour happens many times amongst best of friends and family. The one which at least seems a bit diplomatic looks like making a softly, softly approach. Laden with guilt possibly? Maybe, but you don’t know whether that is the one in the wrong or in the right, do you? It might be on somebody else’s behalf. Whatever the case, pride is being put aside and courage plucked up. At least someone is decent enough to apologise, which is not that very often. Then again, they both could be conspicuously made up and one is playing hard to get. You are quite welcome to make up your own mind...

Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and a sober aspect to some of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric or any other style he employs. World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What is prevalent throughout his work is light, movement and flow, hardly any black is employed, leaning towards enlightenment.
