ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Melvin is a personification of a real life baby giant Pacific octopus that I found in a glass bottle while taking scuba diving lessons many years ago. Before that moment I was so tentative and afraid of water and the ocean. The moment I met Melvin, I knew I'd never let those fears hold me back from exploring the oceans and the sea creatures there. It was truly memorable and magical to hold that tiny creature in my hand. I want to share that magic with everyone. This wall art is one of the illustrations in my children's picture book called "The Story of Melvin" which is a poem and art about the octopus I call Melvin from the Pacific Northwest, USA in Hoods Canal.
