About The Artwork
This artwork is a part of the MixTape series, which is dedicated to people, music and mutual influence between them. There are 14 artworks in total, created in collaboration of Taras Makar with seven artists. All of them combine illustration and calligraphy. Each artwork is inspired by a song and features lyrics from it. Taras says: "I've always been curious about how other people see the world. How they see me and how they perceive themselves. Making my artworks has become an opportunity for me to get closer to understanding other people, observing them in the creative process, finding points of intersection. We selected a song and tried to express the feelings and emotions behind it, combining different styles and approaches, mixing illustration with calligraphy."

Taras has been mastering traditional calligraphy, and it helped him to discover the way how arrays of letters combined together can be meaningful and expressive. To better express himself, he often breaks the tradition and introduces other elements, particularly in his work in large sizes. Taras is also keen to collaborate with other artists and illustrators, and lots of his works came into existence as a result of such collaborations.
