ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This Painting has 8 perspectives one each side. This means that there are 32 ways to view this painting. Even more if the viewer has an imagination. My hope is that the viewer gets transported to a fictional world where things could have happened has already happened. I chose this style because the current reality of life is too limited. I want viewers to feel that there is one than more possibilities can coexist with other realities.

Johan Diedericks was born in 1994 and raised in Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa. He graduated with a degree in BCom Human Resource Management (Cum Laude) and honours in Industrial Psychology (Cum Laude ) at the University of the Free State. He is currently completing his master’s degree in industrial psychology. Diedericks started painting and experimenting with digital media, acrylic and photography in 2017. He started posting mixed media works on his Instagram page. Later, he started painting acrylic on canvas. He wrote his first poetry collection (which is still pending publication) in July 2017. In late 2017, it became apparent to Diedericks that he mainly wants to put his focus on creating acrylic paintings on canvas. His focus on the space between presence and disassociation in trauma. His work mostly explores the metaphysical concept of nothing and everything, hypnosis, being itself and the unconscious relating to developmental trauma. His philosophy of art is that it already exists, it just has not been expressed yet.
