ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I painted this for my son's high school baseball team fundraiser. It was bought and immediately gifted to the head coach. I was not a very good baseball dad. I was a pain in his ass because I acted like an ass. People don't realize how crazy you can become when you watch your kids play sports. I was so glad to hear he got it because I wanted him to have it. He deserves much more after putting up with me and all you other baseball parents. He teared up. :)

I’m Jonathan Cashion. I sign my works J.Cashion. If you’re a close friend, you call me Cash. I was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I live in Dayton, TX (Houston) and I’m in my 50’s now. I’m a veteran of the US Navy. I work in a chemical plant and I paint on my off days, or when I can’t sleep. I started drawing when I was a kid. I remember always enjoying art class but I was never confident enough to create. I no longer have that problem. I have an overwhelming desire and need and put colors on canvas in harmony with each other. I work with acrylics mostly, although there’s a painting in my head that will be done in oil one day. I get inspired to create by several different triggers: a season, a feeling, a movie, a person, a place, or even a mood. I feel that I have a knack for creating pieces for specific spaces, people, occasions, and even moods. Some of my best pieces have been done with colors dictated ahead of time. I’ve been painting for over 20 years now, but I only recently decided to paint to sell. Mainly because I would love to NOT work in a chemical plant anymore. I don’t have any awards. I’ve never worked under another artist. I don’t have an MFA. I’ve got a college degree, but not in art. I don’t feel that any human needs a formal education to be able to create inspiring, emotional, or thought provoking art. I hope my art does that for you one day!
