ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Nomad" draws inspiration from the legendary works of traditional fantasy artists like Frank Frazetta, Donato Giancola, and Michael Whelan. Their ability to create vivid, dynamic scenes filled with powerful characters and rich storytelling has always captivated me. In "Nomad," I aimed to capture a similar sense of epic adventure and mythical grandeur. I chose to work with oil on wood panel to achieve the depth and richness of color that these masters are known for, particularly focusing on bold reds to evoke a sense of intensity and drama. The subject matter—a formidable warrior riding a fearsome dragon—allowed me to explore themes of bravery, strength, and the untamed wildness of fantasy worlds. Through this piece, I hope to transport viewers into a realm of dark fantasy and adventure, stirring their imaginations and invoking a sense of awe and wonder. My goal is for "Nomad" to resonate with those who share a love for epic tales and the mesmerizing power of traditional fantasy art.

I have always been inspired by fantastic and imaginative stories with dark themes. In addition to my love of fantasy, I grew up with a close relationship to (and love for) animals. These ideas and inspirations naturally made their way into my own work while I progressed as an artist. My work would be best described as imaginative realism or dark fantasy art. I frequently include animals, death, skeletons, crows and other dark subject matter in my artwork, and I love to incorporate hidden references to personal experiences and stories within each piece. As an artist, I try to breathe life into each piece by incorporating both subtle and bold movements. My hope is that the observer not only views the artwork, but also imagines the rushing wind, senses the cold, or hears the sound of wings thrashing in the sky. I aim for each and every piece to be a complete visual experience.
