ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Orangutan build their nests in trees in the rain forests of Borneo and Sumatra. They are critically endangered due to habitat destruction and deforestation. In this painting an orangutan is sitting in a makeshift nest in rock pondering his situation. The flame colored sunset and smoky haze in the background hint at the cause of his predicament. To me he represents us all. We are all in danger of being displaced
