ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Lekui is a freelance photographer and artist from Hangzhou who is now established in Montreal. A bachelor in art and design, her career truly began in 2008 with photography assignments for China’s largest music festival, capturing the intensity of international scene artists. She founded LKVM Studio in 2014 and became known for both her powerful yet humanistic portraits as well as her still life photography of worldwide renown furniture designs. Gradually incorporating abstractionism into her work, she launched various series of exhibitions, including a well-fare project in Nepal and photography-based installations in Beijing. As of 2018, she created three series of abstract acrylic paintings with a fascination for very large formats. Recurring themes in her work include the power of nature within our lives and the importance of soulfulness.
