ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This image captures and recreates a photograph I took of a palm tree, gently blowing in the wind in a desert landscape in Crete. I made a stencil to blowtorch a silhouette of the palms fronds, the texture of the burnt wood helps to give a sense of movement in the landscape. I have followed the natural grain of the wood to establish the layout of the horizon and sky. I painted detail using different chalk paints. Hanging fixtures come and are attached to the piece.
