ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Executed in acrylic on canvas, I used pure primary colours in an expressive way. The pink, yellow and green colours push forward from the red underpainting,. The red underpainting is seen throughout the work and holds the painting together/gives it cohesion. The green passage at the top of the work suggests trees and foliage; the blue at the bottom of the painting suggests water. I have been told that the yellow shape in the middle looks like a fish, maybe a salmon.

Richard Fuller is an abstract painter living and working in London. Born in 1963, and growing up on the family farm in South East England, his brightly coloured paintings are inspired by the big skies, the luminous sunsets and the ever present horizon of this mysterious landscape. Although excellng at Art at school, he studied Agriculture at university, aiming to join his father in the farm business, but later changed career choice after a transformational six month working holiday in Australia where he backpacked around the country. In 1987 he joined BBC Television News, where he worked for many years on live programs and also as a video editor. Visiting art exhibitions inspired nim to take art lessons. He completed courses at many of the major art colleges in London including A Level Art (A grade), and Foundation Studies at London Guildhall University, ("known as the Aldgate Bauhaus"). Leaving the BBC in 2004 to concentrate on his art career, he initially painted a series of large scale flowers set against brightly coloured backgrounds. His recent abstract paintings, also defined by their bright colours, are inspired by the natural world, the sky and the changing seasons. He has artwork in private collections in Europe, the USA and Australia.
