Every June at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens there is a Peonie festival with various colours and breeds of Peonies. The flowers are large and glorious as they bloom, and that continues from late May to the end of June. I wanted to give a sense of the volume of the flower using stokes of colour and was more interested in the closeup in this series.

"There are few more satisfying and emotive experiences than making marks on a piece of paper... The process of becoming an artist in the traditional sense is embracing the set of disciplines whereby one learns to give his marks greater tangible and universal meaning to a wider audience over a longer period of time"
