ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This picture was painted on a trip to Sri Lanka near the city of Ella. This view is located on the way to the small Peak of Adam. High mountains and unusual plants inspired me to write this picture.

Anna Churiukina is an artist opening new facets in realistic painting. Her artistic career is the soul-searching, the search for the most kindred art. Before the graphic arts, those were dances, poetry, education in the field of designing… The study in A. Sheretov private school opened for her the world of the much-loved painting. Her paintings are the bright, cheerful and unique fusion of impressionism and post-impressionism with a light touch of fauvism. Anna admires great masters, prominent colorist painters. She does not copy but creatively revises their heritage and creates the canvasses with her individual “handwriting”. Her creative style is the intense and expressive color. The rave of colors, and, at the same time, their harmony, the symphony of numerous shades. Large, voluminous presentation forms – her canvas are very tangible, they are filled with vital energy and the beauty of the world around. Her mood is sunny, cheerful, enthusiastic. Anna’s works are always filled with light, air, radiation. This cheerfulness passes over to the spectator. Her favorite genre is the one related to the nature: trees, plants, seas, rivers in the landscapes, flowers, especially spring and summer ones – in still lifes. Her specificity is the love for summer, sunshine, warmth. There are very few night and winter themes in her landscapes. Rain, nasty weather, sad grey color are not reflected in her canvasses – they do not inspire Anna and do not comply with her energetic personality… Besides, there is love for big, extraordinary and exotic plants. If Anna comes to a botanic garden or orangery, she stays there for long, watching the complex forms of leaves and flowers and drawing inspiration for new canvasses. Her voyages are the trips for new impressions and inspiration. In European museums she saw the works of the great artists – her favorite painters. The Southern Europe, where Anna actively travels, is full of bright sun, lush plants and beautiful flowers which can be captured on canvas. Her experiments are the paintings in quite another manner – poster-style, laconic, akin to prints. These works are imbued with the anxiety about the state of nature, environmental balance in the world people are liable for. Her expositions are the numerous group and personal exhibitions in Ukraine and outside it. Besides, there are participations and victories in international fine arts contests. Her plein-airs are an important part of her creative process.
