Philip Michael Martin was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He studied art/graphic design at Hull College of Art before moving to London to begin a long and successful career in advertising as a copywriter and art director at some of the UK's leading agencies. The influences of that career can be found throughout his work which invariably features combinations of words and pictures that are designed to provoke, question and entertain.
