ABOUT THE ARTWORK

2019 dyptich 150/100 cm acrylic, marker on canvas “Portal 112” is painting inspired by the image of Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine in Japan. It is also called the shrine of thousands torii. Torii lead to the outer shrine and are a kind of portals. I aimed to reflect a peculiar point which exists in different layers of reality simultaneously. I created this Portal as a diptych in order to show that it can’t be static. Portal activates in the moment when both of its parts unite. This process is also reflected in the name of the painting. Number “112” is “11” and “2”. It represents not an actual but hypothetical union of two “1”. This painting shows the way to a different dimension of reality. The lines merge and form mystical patterns, which hypnotize and drag into the deep. But the viewer shouldn’t be scared. Portal is divided into separate squares, which actually never fuse. As if they are just floating in the air. But one can still conceive its mystery. * varnished, signed back * ready to hang

My name is Iryna Shche and the best thing I love to do in life is to create. I remember myself being three years old and from that time I have being perceiving the world as a one big canvas. Now I am 31 years old and I am an artist. In my childhood I spend hours on looking at pictures of great artists in the encyclopedia of Art. Then I tried to reproduce my impressions, had gotten during traveling with parents or walking in the park. Basic art skills I learned from the artist in my native town. That time I preferred to draw. I considered drawing as an instrument only. I aimed to gain a "perfect picture". Later I was realizing my creativity in fashion styling by composing looks and fashion stories. I set a goal to depict perfect moments of the life beauty. I aspired to bring some poetry to everything I touched. Sometimes I succeeded. More and more I had being studying to put emotions to puzzles in order to bring them then together in beautiful patterns highlighting with fashion stuff. Nevertheless that was not enough for me. I wanted to produce emotions by myself and create outfits of my design. I was making sketches, inventing the proper mood for my clients. I gained some success, my clients were happy and satisfied. But not me again). Something was missing. So I took a pause and devoted my time to psychology. One day I recollected my first insights and turned back to painting. I finally realized what was really important to me, my first pure vision of the world... So since that time I am doing my best to depict finer things, the only, we can feel. Because I believe, that everything we see, is the reflection of our inner world.
