ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is part of a collection of artwork titled 'Portraits'. 'Portraits' consist of portraitures with facial disfigurations in all various painting techniques. This encourages the normalization of disfigurements and absorbs the audience in a world where this is part of society. When working on the collection 'Portraits' I desired to go out of my comfort zone and set myself a challenge for each painting. I approached this painting with the idea to create a colourful explosion: pink and blue skies, expressive skin tones and colourful garments.
