This paint is inspired by a cactus that bloom once a year usually at night. It is an event, a celebration. The cactus originated in Central and South America. Even though it had acclimated here. The timing of it's blooming is in conjunction with the seasons there. Here is the poem that I wrote for the painting: 'Here Now, attempting to acclimate, futile or not Habituated or not to alien surroundings. Rounded stems wrapped in our painful wounds. . Surmounting the odds of our existence. A sudden miracle, Flowering an overnight unfolding an enormous pure white blossom against the dark night sky The familiar vanilla scent.'
