About The Artwork

A few years ago I had a solo show called Reverie. The dictionary term: a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts; a daydream. In music: an instrumental piece suggesting a dreamy or musing state. A week or so ago I was talking to one of my interior design clients who had just name one of her project by the seaside, Reverie. Just that same day, I was listening to my Daily (Music) Mix on Spotify, and a beautiful piece of classical music came on that moved me. When I looked to see what it was, it was Reverie by Claude Debussy. Full circle. My art is often dreamy and 'musical', both in its making and result, I couldn't help but call this 25 in my Leap series – Reverie. This is the first wooden panel I have done in a while. Normally I paint on canvas. It is also by far the largest wooden panel I have done. It is called cradled wood panel. It is just like a canvas in that it is dimensional and has 1.5" edges. It is edge painted. Ready to hang. Framable at your end if you wish. Cheerio and Enjoy, Valerie

In my studio, accidents happen, and that moves my work forward. It is always exciting to watch work take on a life of its own. I begin with the end in mind, and always land in a different place. I work hard to develop original works – avoiding trends and following the direction of the work – in the moment. My colourful works reflect my love of colour, and design. Works are held in private and public collections worldwide.
