Rising with the Fog Print

This was painted in the Summer of 2021 as part of my mini Farms and Fields collection. It embodies the quiet morning, before most of us are even awake, when the the roosters are rising and calling to the world. Wake up, another day is here. What peace there is in those early hours of every day. Story: The harvest is in, and the rush of the season has passed. My boots, coated with dirt and mud stand firm over crusted ground and dried grasses. How many times have they treaded over this field, across these very rows season to season? Time changes so rapidly that I can no longer keep track. Soon the winds will bring the rain, and then the snow, and soon the fields will be buried until another spring dawns. Absently I kick at the dirt, the toe of my boot scraping the ground roughly. I pay no attention because my eyes are on the hills in the distance and the drifting fog that's settled in. Winter is coming.
