About The Artwork

Acrylic on unframed canvas. Please note depth of canvas approx 1.8 cms. The canvas can be hung unframed if preferred. Another in my series of Glen Clova, one of the Great Glens in the Scottish Highlands. I came across a small bridge while driving down the glen and on rounding a bend saw this riverside bank glowing with the tall pink spires of Rosebay Willowherb. It was an inspirational sight and prompted me to make a quick sketchbook painting. As the bridge was extremely narrow I also took a photo for reference, and this painting springs from both of those sources. I have visited Glen Clova several times and always find the landscape there provides me with many subjects for paintings. You can see more on my website www.chrissiehavers.com This unframed canvas [dimensions 36x24inches], ships well protected by packaging inside a robust cardboard box.

www.chrissiehavers.com Represented by Cambridge Contemporary Art. The landscape is my main source of subject for painting - particularly the orderly impact on the landscape of human habitation and farming. The framework imposed by fencing hedges ditches etc and the impact these divisions have on the land is always interesting. Colours lent to the land for a few months by growing crops is another element. The rather harsh lemon of the rape or mustard crops, the cool blue of a linseed field, the effervescent mixture of echinacea flowers - all these colours provide problems for an artist. While they are very dramatic , visually they don’t sit well with the native trees and hedge colours, but I am drawn to them as a subject on exactly that account. This is what inspires my work - colour.
