ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Painting ships unstretched, rolled This large format oil painting in a richly tropical earth toned palette expresses a mood of change and movement often experienced in island life. In the days, weeks, year following the exceptional high waters in Venice I have created many “Rough Waters” paintings. A series within a series of the “Moon Muse” works. The residual effects of those many days of standing water brought this island city to a halt, in a collective action akin to treading water. Stacy Gibboni’s international exhibition record spans over thirty years. Gibboniʼs works are held in private and corporate collections worldwide. Artist Statement: Painting is a process evolving from a collection of life’s many magical moments. From each moment an individuals iconography is woven. My alphabet is conjured from long walks around a floating city. Through the woods, gardens and sandy shores of memory, always gazing abroad towards tomorrow. The act of creating a painting is a holistically intuitive process in which I strive to evoke an aesthetic conversation on the necessity of joy.
