SEA OF CORTES #2 Print

The freedom to create with joy and movement is uplifting. This is an example of 40 years of bold and free experimentation in watercolour. Inspired by the desert beauty of Baja California Sur, #1 being the hot piece and the other #2 cool blues. My history of 20 years living and studying in Mexico has opened my mind and enabled me to feel and express the warmth, colour, importance, and life that is abundant. I have always been drawn to powerful, unique art that is meaningful, such as the Masters John Turner, Kandinski and Picasso. Emotion and spirituality coupled with principled concepts of value, along with a strong understanding of the Design Language, is the desire to create strong works of fine art. I only strive for excellence myself and having a critical eye is perhaps showing the Virgo in me. All materials are of professional quality, texture is obvious; colour scheme uses intense hues, hot oranges, purples and sea blues and the value scheme is an all over pattern with a gradation from dark to light. Movement in my works is achieved through direction and the use of warm and cool colours, which is important to me to be able to create ‘life’.
