ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is an oil painting on a stretched canvas. It was meant to be similar to a European landscape, but as I painted I realized that it more closely resembled a memory from my childhood. I used to sit as close as I could to the stained glass windows during church, and I loved to imagine what the different parts of the glass were. Maybe I would imagine one part of the glass to be a tunnel. Maybe I would imagine another part of the glass to be water or sky. Maybe you also have a similar memory!

Hello, My name is Krysta Kiner Shields. I love to create art that is reminiscent of vintage and antique art. If it can be placed in a golden or gilt vintage frame, all the better. I also love to create anything that seems beautiful to me. As a child I was always drawn to beautiful things, and to art. I still remember the smell of my preschool classroom when we did fingerpainting. I was very fortunate to always have had very attentive art teachers, and they taught me many different ways to create the effects that I wanted. In High School, my High School fine art teacher taught me how to oil paint. It was like a beautiful light had turned on in my soul, and I fell in love with this medium! I have since spent more time using acrylic paint, and truly enjoy the vibrant colors it provides! I usually focus only on painting what I consider to be aesthetically pleasing and beautiful, and some of my art may have Christian or family values, as God is the most important thing in my life, and has given me beautiful children and a beautiful family! I could never paint a sunrise, sunset, or ocean quite like him, and I could definitely never paint my children as beautiful as he does, but I am thankful he gave me the ability to paint, and that he shows me he is with me, as I am captured by and cherish this beautiful world! I hope you enjoy browsing my work, and hopefully you will feel a connection with a piece that you would like to keep with you.
