Self Portrait 4 Painting

This painting is one in four self portraits illustrated in wet paint for my solo exhibition, Inattention during my last year of study at university. Making this canvas was a turning point in my work as I had come away from the canvas and fine art painting for about 3 years. In this piece I scratched through the wet paint after mixing it in with bonding agents to allow the paint to crack while drying. The cracking and manipulating of paint became the physical presence of the mind within my artworks which gradually over the next four months of art making, took over the artworks and slowly dissolved the human form. Comes lacquered, sealed on the back and mirror plated.
