ABOUT THE ARTWORK

At an early age I realized art could be the language of feeling, that form and color could be the vocabulary of unspoken emotion. My discovery of this “language” was confirmed at the University of California, San Diego where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts with an emphasis on Art History. Early influences are Matisse, Marc Chagall and Georgia O'Keeffe. I find that painting on canvas is a similar experience to what others might have through journaling or therapy. I hope that my artwork provides mental reflection on ones own journey and creates a thoughtful and kind approach towards all living things on earth. We are so interconnected even down to the very last petal of a flower. I like to work with varying mediums as I like to see how each interacts with the other and evokes different emotions across the canvas through form and color. Five pointed flowers have repeatedly shown up in my artwork since childhood. I also worked for years as a floral designer surrounded by flowers which provided endless inspiration through all stages of their life.
