Shine on, is an original artwork created with high quality acrylics on a 50x70cm canvas. High quality acrylics were applied on the canvas. Gold leaves were applied around her head to create a golden olive branch. This piece represents a woman who recently had a mastectomy. Why the flowers you may ask; certainly not to refill the space, but to always be reminded that true beauty comes from within. Not all women feel the same way about their breasts. Some women think that breasts play a crucial role in how they perceive themselves and how feminine they may look or feel, and others just don't pay much attention to them. Truth be told, we are much connected to the breast from a young age, hence breastfeeding. Whatever the case may be though, having a mastectomy can change the way a woman perceives and feels about her body, and these changes need time to be embraced dearly. Back to the painting now: the woman appears to be sewing the flowers onto herself, she's sewing her own beauty, she's slowly making her own happiness, she's starting to feel comfortable with her body again, she's loving that body much, she is the beauty, she is the sun, she is the champ!
