ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Silk Road" is created from my personal experience in India from attending a family wedding. I was so taken by the plethora of gorgeous colors, I painted this colorful sewn painting. I hope it will conjure up exotic images of women draped in diaphanous silken saris flowing gently in the wind. I chose deep reds and hues of oranges to allude to the traditional colors used in Indian weddings. The sewing of this painting symbolizes Gandhi's goal of making Indians self-reliant by fabricating their own clothing. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The artist coats her work twice with UV Archival Varnish to protect the painting. The painting is framed.

I am an abstract painter expressing my work by exploring the relationship between nature and our environment. Using dialogue between the two can be my best source of inspiration. The tactility of multiple textures and building of layers, are the backbones of my pieces. The severity of the elements can age and weather and create the most interesting designs. The distressed look of patina on metal and dilapidating walls intrigues me by their abstract surfaces and patterns. These textures and layers give depth and dimension to my paintings and are common elements in all my series. I currently live and work in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
