About The Artwork

Xu Bin's oil painting, "Slow Down II," is a beautiful depiction of a towering tree, laden with ripe apples, and a young man seated on a giant leaf, gazing off into the distance. The painting is a powerful expression of the resilience and grandeur of life, and it inspires hope and support for those who view it. The tree stands tall and majestic, its branches reaching towards the sky. The tree is heavily laden with apples, which hang like jewels from its branches, glistening in the light. The apples represent the bounty and abundance of life, and they are a symbol of the many opportunities and possibilities that await those who are willing to reach out and take them. In the foreground of the painting, we see the young man sitting on a large leaf, lost in thought as he looks out into the distance. The leaf is an important symbol, representing growth and change, and the young man's position on it suggests that he is in a state of transition, moving from one stage of life to another. He is no longer bound by the constraints of the world around him, but instead, he is free to explore his own inner world, and to pursue his dreams and aspirations. The young man's posture is relaxed and contemplative, suggesting that he is at peace with himself and the world around him. He is not worried about the future or burdened by the past; instead, he is living fully in the present, enjoying the beauty and wonder of the world around him. His gaze is fixed on the horizon, suggesting that he is looking towards the future with hope and anticipation. The young man holds a ripe apple in his hand, which is an important symbol in the painting. The apple represents the pursuit of a better future and the belief that good things are yet to come. It is a powerful symbol of hope and faith, suggesting that even in the face of adversity, we can continue to believe in a better tomorrow.

I was born in 1969 in Guang'an, Sichuan, China. I graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Southwest Normal University and became a freelance artist afterwards. My early works were mainly oil paintings, influenced by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists such as Monet and Seurat. Through continuous learning and creative practice, I gradually integrated the artistic essence of Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Chagall and other artists, and combined with my own Chinese cultural background to develop my own mature artistic style.
