ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I like to take up the topic in a dualistic way, to show both sides of things. This painting is about basic interpersonal interactions, simple conversations, a social life that we all need as it can inspire us, make us feel connected with others, feel how colorful and varied our society is, and give us a boost of energy; on the other hand, we sometimes feel overloaded, at such moments everything may seem too loud, too saturated and tiring. I would love to see this painting in a crowdy place where people meet. For those who subconsciously absorb a positive vibe from it and for those who are a bit tired, will look at it longer and reflect a bit on duality, which makes our world an interesting place. Acryl paint on cardboard, 100x70cm.

Art is a dust, that persistently settles in the corners of my studio, swept away by design education. For some time now, I have stopped fighting it, letting it connect me with its translucent layer with areas, that elude understanding, remaining a discussion without conclusions and developed solutions. Art is seemingly pointless, but, following Marshall Rosenberg, I think that it is not pointless to enrich our lives with elements of fun, self-expression, experiment, and that we all dream of getting out of the hamster wheel of productivity for a while. Therefore, when I reach for painting, photography, drawing, illustration, lettering - I allow myself! I am Kama Czechowska, polish painter currently living on the Iberian Peninsula. I am nomad, minimalist, vegetarian; founder of Petricora Studio; author of "This is not a tomato" cookbook - a recipe book about art (of cooking). I went on foot from Poland to Portugal. I painted for italian mafia. I'm self-proclaimed goddaughter of Julio Cortázar and Gertrude Stein. I have many stories to say, and I'm doing it trough art.
