1 The epic poems give us news of the great people of this world: they go up as stars, as stars fall. It is comforting and it should be known. But for us, that we have to feed them, It has always been, Oh, more or less the same. They rise and fall, but at expense of who? The wheel keeps on turning. What was up won’t keep up forever. But for the water underneath, alas! This just means the wheel has to keep turning. 2 We had many lords, we had hyenas and tigers, we had eagles and pigs. and all of them we fed. Better or worse, doesn’t matter the boot trampling us is always a boot. You undestand what I mean: not to change lords but always have the same one. The wheel keeps on turning. What was up won’t keep up forever. But for the water underneath, alas! This just means the wheel has to keep turning. 3 They brutally attack, fight over the spoils. For them all others are greedy men and consider themselves good men. We see them ever get angry and fight each other. Just when we don’t want to feed them any more they sudenly agree. And then the wheel doesn’t keep on turning. and the funny farse ends when the water, alas, with all its power is only devoted to work for itself
