The mountain is inspiring! Mount Rainier, that is. It's grandness never fails me. As a life long photographer this painting was inspired by a series of photographs I made when I was hiking 3rd Burroughs Mountain on the North East slopes of Mount Rainier. I hope viewers will be inspired by the grandness and wildness of this scene. Nature is what we are and where we come from. IT, is everything and will be here long after we Humans disappear.Love it, protect it and hopefully our grandchildren will be able to see it like we have or maybe if we really "come around" as a species, maybe they will experience it better than we are now. Hope is powerful.

Please note, changes from the specs listed on the website will usually effect the pricing of the work as well as the costs of packaging and shipping of the artwork. I'm a photographer, painter and occasionally a filmmaker. I attribute my becoming a photographer to the beauty and landscapes I experienced in my youth, mostly in southwest Colorado. In high school I was very inspired by Ansel Adams and the landscapes that surrounded me on the high desert plateau of the four corners area. After studying photography and graphic arts in college in Flagstaff, Arizona I moved to Seattle, Washington where I lived for 32 years. During that time I became very involved in the rock climbing community and all sorts of outdoor recreational pursuits. As far as work goes, I was mostly working in commercial and editorial photography but also shooting more personal artwork that was having to do with nature and landscapes. I seldom showed that work back then. That has changed over the last 10 years or so. I am an artist and always have been one. It took me a while to realize that as I pursued more commercially inclined photography in my early career. There are many artists who have influenced me over my career. Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Gregory Heisler, Patrick Demarchelier, Albert Watson, Elliot Erwitt, Georgia O'Keefe, Andrew Wyeth, Ed Mell, and many more. In painting I am mostly self taught except for a handful of classes and workshops I've taken over the years and whatever I absorbed from my mother and grandmother in all the time I watched their life long painting / art journeys. My photography was learned through years of formal training in high school and college and tutelage while working with over 100 different photographers when I was a freelance photographers assistant... that and a lot of practice and perseverance over 35+ years. My main drive in my art is to use photography, painting, and film making as vehicles for exploring and learning. To learn, to understand, to share.
