ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting inspired by traditional Portuguese life and environment. It was made in an old house in Alfama, the most authentic part of Lisbon, filled with traditional Portuguese musical instruments, old reliquary books and still life objects, with a big orange tree full of juicy oranges in an inner terrace. It immerse in the mood of “saudade” - the kind of nostalgia, which exists only in Portuguese language, same time celebrating life and happiness with its’ bright colours. Mandolin represents joy of life and musicality and oranges, strawberries, banana as symbols of prosperity, abundance and fertility.
