ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was lucky to be off work and at home gazing from my home studio windows when this storm was brewing. Painting on shellac'd masonite board is a great way to paint really quickly with oil paints. (Gesso a big X in back so the board doesn't warp over time.) So, I snatched up board and set to work, painting as quickly and loosely as possible to capture the excitement of the incoming storm, while still attending to details I love.

Welcome! Painting is a joyful activity, and I hope my creations delight viewers. I offer fine quality prints and some original paintings. Born in Thailand to American parents, I began oil painting at age seven when my father gave me an oil set for my birthday, telling me, "Just don't eat the paint." As a teenager during the 1970s, I studied sumi ink brush painting with a Chinese master while my family lived in Vientiane, Laos. In the 1980s, I studied Japanese brush painting for many years with master painter Kayoko Bird in Berkeley, California. I also studied Art at Laney College, Oakland. Today, I live on the coast north of San Francisco and enjoy abstract mixed media painting and plein air painting. I have written, copied and published three art-related books: "Carry Your Own Joy," "Journey to the Tracks," and "Old Painted Doors and Gates."
