About The Artwork

Few people have had the oppurtunity to see working vessels at sea. The amount of maritime traffic passing through the Red Sea and around the Arabian peninsula is prolific with most being related to transporting petroleum products. This work gives the viewer a bird's eyeview of one such ship, a supertanker. This particular tanker is passing by the much disputed Strait of Hormuz, fully loaded with crude oil. Due to the shape of her submerged "bulbous bow", it can create a spectacular wall of water with even with a slight cross current or wind. This vessel is on her way to offloading facilities in the United States.
